Carl Grainger appointed as Head of Manufacturing at GAP

GAP, the leading independent manufacturer and stockist of PVC-U and aluminium building products, has appointed Carl Grainger to the key role of Head of Manufacturing for Rockdoors, Bi Folds, Windows, and Glass operations within the business.

Carl Grainger joined GAP in the summer of 2021 as Head of Manufacturing for Rockdoor. After a short space of time, it quickly became clear that Carl’s experience, leadership and knowledge could benefit the wider GAP business.

This led to Carl being promoted to Head of Manufacturing for all Rockdoor, Window and Glass operations at GAP’s Head Office in Lancashire, whilst also assuming overall manufacturing responsibility for HomeView Bi Folding doors, which are fabricated using Cortizo profile from a large manufacturing facility in Knowsley, Merseyside.

Carl’s experience is wide and varied across many industries, including time spent at K2 Conservatory Roof Systems and Travis Perkins, as Director of Supply Centres serving hundreds of depots across the country.

Commenting on his new appointment, Carl said “I’m delighted GAP have given me the opportunity to work across the wider business. Working with the talented team at Rockdoor has been a real pleasure, especially seeing the team’s commitment to making the UKs most secure and stylish composite door. So I’m now looking forward to working with other parts of the business”.

GAP’s Co-Founder Charles Greensmith added, “With Carl, it became apparent very early on that he possessed the leadership qualities to add more value to the wider business. His experience and expertise within our sector, as well as serving a large depot network with a range of manufactured products, made him the ideal candidate for the position.

Earlier this year we expanded our operations to include making bi folding doors in-house. Therefore, we wanted to create a key position within GAP to oversee operations at both our main base in Lancashire, as well as our new facility in Knowsley. Carl has settled into life at GAP exceptionally well and it’s great to have him as part of our valued team.”

Carl joins GAP at an exciting time as the business looks to expand their new depot opening programme in 2022, rolling out their new format trade counters which they recently revealed in Deeside.
