Richard Cockett Rejoins GAP

Over 12 years ago, GAP had firm ambitions to enter the Southern market for PVC-U building products and introduce its core brands of Homeline, Rockdoor and Homeframe to new customers.

At the time, GAP only operated eight depots within the network, with the most Southern depot being Birmingham. Therefore, to target the Hertfordshire town of Hemel Hempstead as the first venture into the South was quite an ambitious target.

To spearhead the growth plans in the South, a highly respected Regional Manager of Omnico Building Products at the time, called Richard Cockett, joined.

Under Richards’s leadership, GAP Hemel Hempstead soon opened a huge 22,000 sq ft mega depot, which quickly became the groups fastest ever growing depot.

Richard left GAP to seek pastures new, but has now re-joined GAP in the key role of Southern Sales Manager to help develop the Southern depot network, which now stands at over 29 depots of 78 overall.

Simon Bird, GAP’s Joint Founder said, “It’s brilliant to have Richard back with us as his knowledge of the market, excellent reputation with customers, together with his enthusiasm to succeed are second to none. We hope Richards’s appointment is another strong sign to our customers that we are continuing to invest in our people, our products and services for the future.”
